Recently the Supreme Court
ruled the DC ban on guns was unconstitutional, and in the wake of the decision,
the local and national media had a field day in the projects. Their day was
spent digging up the mothers, brothers and sisters of gunshot victims, most
involved in gang related shootings. We saw the widows and mothers crying and
telling the court that they have blood on their hands. We saw indignant fathers
and brothers telling us how people are going to die. After a minute or two of
this, the story swings to a man or women in a business suite who says our
constitutional right has been upheld. This side of the story gets 15 seconds,
and no explanation. Other stories show DC officials and US
Congressional leadership blasting the decision and talking about ways to
legislate or work around the ruling.
As usual there was no coverage of the real issue, there was no one questioning
all of the victims, and asking if the people killed were killed with legal
weapons or illegal weapons. The point is that criminals will have weapons, with
the gun ban, they are the only people with weapons, without the ban, criminals
will still have guns, but now, the citizen will have the right to protect
himself or herself in turn. In the Blue Lagoon, this is gun lobby propaganda.
Actually from a constitutional standpoint NONE of the above really matters. The
right to bear arms in the constitution has nothing to do with a homeowner
protecting his or her family from criminals; it is simply a positive side
effect. The reason the framers included the right to bear arms in the 2nd
amendment is that they understood the nature of central government and
power. They understand that a government that is supposedly established
for the people and by the people has to have included in it some essential way
for the people to KEEP IT "by the people" and "for the
people". The thing that scares the liberal social engineers, and big
government bureaucrats the most is the simple truth about the second
amendment: The right to bear arms is in effect the "reset"
button on the constitution. Without it, people being ruled, have no
barrier between a central government ruled by them and a central government
RULING them. Again, the Blue Lagoon, doesn’t get it, and neither do their
sycophants in the press.
